Why Does Our Muscle Mend Essential Oil Blend Work So Well?
March 11, 2016
Debra, who has been working with us from nearly the beginning has absolutely fallen head over heels for our Muscle Mend essential oil blend. She sells a TON of it and buys a TON for herself and hubby as well. She said, Kathy, I don’t know what’s in it, but I swear it works so well!
There’s a saying in aromatherapy where if one oil is good, then a blend is tenfold, and in case that’s definitely true. The blend here is birch, eucalyptus globulus and radiata, marjoram, black pepper and nutmeg. Why though do these oils in combination work so well together?
Firstly, the main constituent of birch is Salicylic Acid and Methyl Salicylate. These two ingredients are in most sports creams because they are pain relievers and bring a natural warmth to the tissues. Eucalyptus globulus and radiata are both anti-inflammatory, anti-spasmodic and decongestant. Basically, they help the muscles flush out and release any built up toxins. Marjoram is another powerful antispasmodic and is also a diuretic, helping to relieve the body of swelling as well as being a sedative to not only the mind but also the body. Black pepper is known to relieve rheumatism and arthritis and ease muscle spasms. And finally, nutmeg is believed to be useful for treating muscle aches and joint pain due to its sedative and anti-inflammatory qualities. Together, these oils have been combined to produce an effective blend of muscle relievers.
So, how do you use these oils? I would apply about 10 drops to a TBSP of your favourite carrier oil like our Almond Oil or Hemp Oil and simply massage into the sore area. Or, you could add 10 drops into a cup of Epsom salts and soak in the tub. If you have a really painful area, you could use your carrier oil/essential oil combination applied to the painful area and then apply a warm compress.
