It’s always fun to try and make something new! I love working with oils, butters and essential oils.
This recipe is super easy and not only is it fun to make, it’s really fun to use!
I have various soap moulds that I use, but I’m always on the look out for neat and unusual “moulds”. For instance, just before Valentine’s Day, I was in a dollar store and I noticed there were candies in a lovely heart shaped mould for $1.25. I didn’t care about the candies but SCORE on grabbing a few of those molds! I’ve used them for bath bombs and soaps and lotion bars. I love them!
You can always use empty yogurt containers or margarine containers… I can’t stomach the idea of margarine, personally… just using the type of container as an example. Here’s a tip: when using a mould that isn’t typically made for that purpose, chances are you’ll run into some issues getting your product out. If it seems like you’re going to run into any issues, simply pop it into the freezer for about a half hour or so. This allows the product inside to freeze and you can just pop it out easily.
So, what’s the recipe?
250 ml Shea or Mango Butter 250 ml Cocoa Butter 125 ml Beeswax Beads
Using your double boiler, allow your butters to gently melt. Once cool, you can use a wide variety of essential oils of your choice. Rule of thumb is to add about 1 to 1.5% essential oil to your mixture. Always wait for the mixture to cool before adding your EO, but not too long because sometimes the EO will cause your mixture to set or harden quickly! These make great gifts for anyone with dry skin, cracked heels or better yet, used as massage bars with your loved one!
